Church attendance tracking without the clipboard
To take church attendance with AttendPad, post a QR code at the entrance (or set a tablet in the lobby in kiosk mode). Members scan with their own phone camera, type their name, and they're checked in — no app, no account for attendees. You see the count live and export the list as CSV or PDF after the service.
How to take church attendance with a QR code
- 1
Create a room for your weekly service
A daily room keeps the same QR code every week, with your service hours as the operating schedule. Use a sheet instead for one-off events like a retreat or conference.
- 2
Print the QR code for the entrance
Download the QR code and put it on a stand at the door, in the bulletin, or on the screen before the service starts.
- 3
Members check in from their phones
People scan, enter their name, and tap Check In. Families can check in each person. Staff can add anyone manually from the manage page.
- 4
Review attendance and export
Watch check-ins arrive live, then browse past Sundays in the calendar history and export a CSV for your records.
Rooms for weekly services, sheets for events
AttendPad has two ways to collect attendance. A room is built for recurring attendance: one permanent QR code, an operating schedule (for example Sunday 9:00–12:00), and a calendar of every past day. That's the natural fit for weekly services, midweek groups, and choir practice.
A sheet is built for a single event with a start and end time — a conference, a retreat, a membership class. Sheets support registration before the event (Pro), early check-in windows, and late-arrival flags. When the event ends, duplicate the sheet to reuse the same setup next time.
Small groups and ministry teams
For a group with a fixed membership — a small group, a youth leaders' team, a worship band — use a room in roster mode. Members tap their own name instead of typing it, and you see exactly who was missing. The free plan includes one room with up to 10 roster members; Pro removes the limit.
What AttendPad doesn't do
AttendPad records who attended. It is not a children's-ministry security system: it doesn't print name tags or matching pickup labels. If you need secure child pickup, keep that process and use AttendPad for the attendance record.
Features churches use

Custom fields
Ask for things like "First time visiting?" or ministry area alongside the name.
Team accessPro
Invite up to 5 staff or volunteers to manage attendance with you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the easiest way to take attendance at church?
Post a QR code at the entrance. People scan it with their phone camera, type their name, and they're counted. It's faster than passing a clipboard and gives you a digital list you can export, with no app for members to install.
Is AttendPad free for churches?
Yes, the free plan includes 3 active sheets and 1 room with up to 10 roster members, with QR check-in and CSV export. No credit card required. Pro is $9/month (or $79/year) for unlimited sheets and rooms, kiosk mode, PDF exports, and team access, with a 7-day free trial.
Can we use the same QR code every Sunday?
Yes. Use a room: its QR code is permanent, so you can print it once. Each day's check-ins are kept separately in the room's calendar history.
Can families check in together?
Each person is checked in individually, so a parent can check in each family member from one phone. A staff member can also add attendees manually from the manage page.
Does AttendPad handle children's check-in and pickup?
No. AttendPad records attendance but doesn't print security name tags or matching pickup labels. Use a dedicated children's check-in system for pickup security.
Can we export attendance for our church records?
Yes. Export any sheet or room day to CSV on every plan, or PDF on Pro.
